Sarah Hendrickx

‘Sarah speaks Asperger as

Sarah has extensive knowledge of Asperger Syndrome, autism and neuro-diversity
from both professional and personal experience. She is Training
Manager for the Aspire
project, an adult Asperger Syndrome mentoring and training project
based in Brighton and Hove. Sarah is also a freelance trainer and
consultant in Asperger Syndrome, autism and dyslexia and is a qualified
Further Education teacher with several years experience supporting
students with dyslexia and other disabilities and also in training
professionals how to support those with dyslexia. Sarah also has
dyslexia herself which she discusses in her training. She recently
completed a Postgraduate Certficate in Asperger Syndrome and an
MA in Autism.
Sarah has spoken at conferences
in the UK and overseas and delivered training and consultancy support
to government departments, psychiatrists, National Autistic Society,
police, schools, colleges, universities, care providers, careers
services and management consultants.
She also carries out adult assessments
on those who believe they may have Asperger Syndrome and workplace
assessments and consultancy to employers as well as coaching and
support to adults and families of those with Asperger Syndrome and
autism to increase their understanding of the condition and feel
positive about it.

Sarah is also partner to Keith, who has Asperger Syndrome. She is
certain that members of her close family have been affected by Asperger
Syndrome which is why she feels that it makes perfect sense to her.
This helps her to explain the impact of Asperger Syndrome, dyslexia
and neuro-diversity to those attending her training or seeking her
advice.
A trainee stand-up comedian, she loves delivering training and tries
to make it as fun and enjoyable as possible, particularly to keep
everyone awake after lunch. She is passionate about ensuring appropriate
understanding and support for those with Asperger Syndrome, autism,
dyslexia, dyspraxia and other developmental conditions through awareness
raising and education.
