'You clearly struck a chord about empowerment with S**** ...and I could feel his palpable relief that you could be a help rather than another well intentioned helper.' – Parent of AS adult after initial coaching session.
We provide specialist Asperger syndrome counselling and coaching support for individuals with Asperger syndrome, family members and those who require Asperger syndrome relationship counselling. We also supply private and Jobcentre Plus Access to Work coaching/mentoring support for adults with Asperger syndrome in the workplace (funding must be confirmed by Access to Work).
Asperger syndrome coaching is a practical and directive means of support which helps adults with Asperger syndrome and families/partners of those with Asperger syndrome or autism. Coaching helps to develop strategies to tackle issues. Learning about Asperger syndrome is often an important part of this process. Sarah Hendrickx has many years experience of working with adults with Asperger syndrome on a range of issues including relationships, sexuality, employment, self-awareness and understanding the neuro-typical world.
Access to Work coaching takes place in the workplace and focuses on developing self-awareness and skills with regard to employment.
Post-diagnostic support sessions are for those seeking to understand their Asperger syndrome diagnosis and learn what this means for them. The diagnosis can often be the start of a new life for many people, providing a new understanding of one's self, past experiences and how one can move forward and create a positive future. This can be a one-off 2 hour session, or take place over a period of weeks or months.
Family members of those with Asperger syndrome sometimes need emotional support and understanding. Our Asperger syndrome counsellor, Su Orosa, has worked with adults with Asperger syndrome exclusively for the past 5 years and has extensive experience of the impact that Asperger syndrome can have. Counselling focuses on the more emotional aspects of a person's experiences.
