Asperger Syndrome - A Love Story When Sarah met Keith neither had any idea about Asperger Syndrome, or that one of us was affected by it. After making this discovery, they, like many other women in her position, avidly read everything she could lay her hands on on the topic of Asperger Syndrome relationships. Whilst finding these books reassuring and enlightening, they also felt that they didn't fully express how happy they were (and are). And so decided to share their own experiences. The book does not intend to negate the difficulties and very real issues that this type of relationship brings, but to highlight and identify why they ended up in their relationship in the first place! Love, Sex and Long-term Relationships: What People with Asperger Syndrome Really Really Want I wrote this book because I felt that those with Asperger Syndrome may not have a peer group or social network to consult with about matters sexual and so decided to give them one! I advertised and asked a bunch of adults with Asperger Syndrome and their partners if they would be willing to answer lots of personal questions about their sex lives and relationship histories and amazingly, many said yes. I wanted a collection of verbatim quotes to show the differences and also the similarities of preference, opinion and behaviour in this area. There are some practical suggestions, but mostly this is a book where Asperger Syndrome and non-Asperger Syndrome partners alike can see that they are not alone. Asperger Syndrome and Alcohol: Drinking to Cope? When Sarah first met Matt, she hadn't written any books at all and yet he had told her that he wanted to write the story of his successful battle with alcoholism in order to 'give something back' for all the help and support he had received. After writing the first two books, and after Matt had been talking publicly in training sessions and seminars about his experiences, we decided to do some research and see whether there was anything out there on the subject of Asperger Syndrome and alcoholism. They found nothing and so decided to write a book which encompassed Matt's story with some research-based material exploring the possible link between the two. It was quite an exciting book to write as Sarah found evidence which backed up our thoughts that a link may exist. Matt's description of his life as an alcoholic is chilling to read and we’re very proud to be part of his decision to share it with the world. Asperger Syndrome and Employment: What People with Asperger Syndrome Really Really Want Using the same format as "Love, Sex and Long-term Relationships: What People with Asperger Syndrome Really Really Want" I again harassed a load of people with Asperger Syndrome and asked them to tell her everything about their working lives, difficulties finding, tolerating and excelling in employment. This book has a lot of practical advice as well as case studies from The National Autistic Society Prospects Employment Service and Specialisterne – a Danish software testing company who only employ adults with Asperger Syndrome because of their skills in this work. Hopefully, it will be useful for those with Asperger Syndrome to know they are not alone in their struggles with work and for employers to see how simple it is to make the adjustments required to access the very real skills that Asperger Syndrome can bring.
